Debt Ceiling

As most of you know, there is a lot going on in Washington.  I am sure you have all read and heard about the debt ceiling negotiations, but I am not sure how many people know what is meant when the words "Debt Ceiling" are thrown around.

The debt ceiling refers to the amount of debt the federal government can legally borrow, which currently stands at $14.3 trillion. At this moment we are pretty close to hitting the limit. The politics are getting nasty with Barry's Administration predicting chaos in the world markets if the deal is not done by August 2 (the other deadline was in May. It passed with no chaos). My personal opinion is more in line with Republicans (surprise surprise). I am okay with raising the debt ceiling, but only if we can have substantial cuts or/and a balanced budget resolution (like most states).
Now for the hypocrisy:
- Barry thinks it is wrong for Republicans to not raise the debt limit and that they are playing politics with the matter. Well that sounds all well and good until you read the following quote:
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure,” he said on March 16, 2006. “Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership . Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

This quote is from Barry when he was a Senator and Bush was the President. His press secretary has since stated that he voted that way because he knew the outcome wasn't in doubt.

Barry now wants to raise taxes on the rich in this country as part of any deal with Republicans.  Well this leads to more false hoods perpetuated by the Democrats and Barry.

-Top 5% of wage earners pay 59% of taxes (Tax Foundation). This debunks the lefts ridiculous argument of not paying their fair share.
And as for raising taxes in a tough economy:
"First of all, he’s right. Normally, you don’t raise taxes in a recession, which is why we haven’t and why we’ve instead cut taxes. So I guess what I’d say to Scott is – his economics are right. You don’t raise taxes in a recession. We haven’t raised taxes in a recession.” (Interview with Chuck Todd Aug. 2009)

With the unemployment rate at 9.2%, this administration should quit with the shenanigans and get a deal done.

2010 Midterms

I have not written a lot about this subject, but I have spoken about it a great deal with libs on Facebook.  Most Democrats are living in some sort of fantasy land.  They believe they will be reelected if they simply bash Bush.  Well I am here to let them know, that Americans have had enough of the Bush bashing.  It cannot last forever.  Eventually the "chickens do come home to roost".
I see three trends that are going to make if very difficult for the Democrats to hold onto to their super majorities in Congress.
     - The conservative base is very energized about this year's midterm. They have been blogging, writing letters to their congressman/congresswoman and Tea Parties have formed and show that they are a force to be reckoned with (see Ran Paul KY,Sharron Angle NV).
     - Democrats have misread the past two election cycles.  Since the 2006-08 election cycles Dems have let their hair down so to speak.  They have come out of their cloaks and are showing us they are the big spending, higher taxes, die hard liberals we (conservatives) always knew they were.  Independents voted for the Dems the past two election cycles, but things are changing.  A reader from the Washington Post sums it up this way:

"In 2006, Democrats talked about how bad the economy was and how they could do better. In 2006, unemployment was 4.3% and in decline. After taking control of both branches of Congress (and therefore all legislation and spending), they drove the rate to 8%. With the help of a super-majority in Congress and Obama in the White House in early 2007, they drove the rate to 10% where it hovers now."

This week it was reported that Barry's approval with Independents is slipping away.  After having an approval as high as 56% his standing is now hovering around 38%.

     - Last but not least is the economy.  As stated in the paragraph above, the unemployment rate was around 4.3% when the Dems took over Congress in 2006. Since 2008 the President and this liberal Congress have helped increase this number with their horrible fiscal policies.  We have a deficit that is rising faster than the temperature in AZ in the month of August! These guys (and gals) have spent billions and even trillions on healthcare, job bills (lol), a non working stimulus, bailouts, etc...

I have only about 4 months to see if I am right or not, but the way things are going now, I wouldn't bet against me.

Arizona Immigration Law

As all the talk about immigration heats up I thought I would toss my two cents in. We (Americans that obey the law and care about our country) are always told how we don't care about illegal aliens. Well I for one do care. I care so much that I decided to do some research on our neighbors to the south.
As you may know by now, Governor Jan Brewer signed a tough immigration bill into law on last Friday. Those on the left have not missed an opportunity to paint this bill as racist or unfair. Since I am a man of reason and logic, I decided I would share with you the law of Mexico in regards to immigrants.

• Article 32 claims foreigners are admitted into Mexico "according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress."

• Article 34 Immigration officials must “ensure” that "immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents. (If this were only true in America)

• Article 37 "the equilibrium of the national demographics" is reason enough to bar foreigners from the country. In addition Article 37 finds it ok to bar on the grounds of “economic or national interests” and “if they (foreigners) are not found to be physically or mentally healthy”.

• Article 73 (this one is for San Francisco) Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants.

• Articles 85, 86, and 87 deal with a National Population Registry and a Catalog of Foreigners for the purpose of verifying each individuals identity, tracking those individuals who compromise the population of the country, and making sure each individual is assigned a unique tracking number.

• Article 117 Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished.

• Article 118 Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years.

• Article 119, 120, and 121 Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa maybe sentenced for up to 6 years in prison, and if they misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico (working without a permit) can also be imprisoned.

I could go on and on, but you get the picture that the Mexican government if full of a bunch of hypocrites. I want to congratulate the Arizona legislature and Governor Jan Brewer for having the courage to do what is right by taking a stand against illegal immigration.

How?

As the dead carcass that is Obamacare nears the finish line, I have a few questions for all Americans. Here goes:
  • If you are a family of 3 and expand to a family of say 10, is it possible to reduce your expenses as you increase the number of dependents in your family?  Most would say no.  How is it then possible to add 30 million people to the Federal Government's dime and the deficit decrease?
  • If health care is your main concern, why are we attaching the federalizing of the student loan industry to this bill? Health care and college have nothing to do with one another.
  • Why are you so confident that a government who bankrupted Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security can do a better job with health care?
  • Finally, why are people so happy to get so little, but pay so much?  This bill infringes on our freedoms as Americans.

Scott Brown Wins!

With 96% of all precincts reporting, Scott Brown has been declared the winner in the special election to replace the late Mass. Senator Ted Kennedy. What seemed impossible just months ago when the Democratic favorite Martha "Marsha" Coakley was up by as much 30 points in some polls has shocked the political world. I know people will talk about this for weeks to come, but the funny thing is all of this could have been avoided.

You see when there was a Republican Governor by the name of Mitt Romney, the Dems in Mass. changed the rules so that the Governor couldn't fill the empty Senate seat by appointment. The Dems thought (Lurch)Sen. John Kerry was going to win the presidency (in 2004). They thought, hey we should hold a special election (to avoid having a Republican appointed). Well none of this matters, because Kerry didn't win. In the end this came back to bite them, because if the rules had remained the same the now Democratic governor could have appointed someone (most likely a Democrat to fill Kennedy's seat or as Brown so eloquently put it the peoples seat of Massachusetts). As a racist pastor once said....the chickens are coming home to roost!

HealthCare: More fuzzy math

As you know by now the Senate voted on Christmas Eve to move this crappy piece of legislation a few steps closer to becoming law.  Over at the American Spectator (http://bit.ly/8NC541) Phillip Klein shows how Dingy Harry and Barry are double dipping so to speak with the accounting numbers on this bill.

Random Thoughts November

There is a lot going on in this country and I would just like to point out a few things:
  • Barry won the Nobel Peace Prize.  That is like Russell Shepard (the highly recruited qb who plays for LSU) winning the Heisman.  He has never started a game and giving him this award for doing nothing is just silly. He has done nothing to prove it.  Sort of like someone else....hmmm
  • Attack Fox News and not Al Qaeda.  That is the mantra of this administration.  Why listen to your hand picked general on the ground when you can listen to twinkle toes (Rahm Emanuel) and I play the race card (David Axelrod).  These two doofs obviously know best .
  • Roger "yellow belly" Goodell decided to make comments about Rush Limbaugh being part of group to buy the St. Louis Rams.  The same guy who has a man who killed dogs (among other things), a man who killed a person while drunk driving (Leonard Little who ironically plays for the Rams), and a few drug users/wife beaters.
  • Joe Wilson screaming you lie still resonats in my mind.  As the healthcare bill is negotiated behind closed doors "the most transparent administration eva" proves Congressman Wilson right.
  • Nancy Pelosi stated that the Dems won last weeks election.  This woman wouldn't know the truth if it offered her half off on her next botox injections.
  • I heard a Congressman say that Nancy thinks bipartisan support includes having 1 Republican vote for her healthcare bill. The real bipartisan support was in opposition to her bill (all but one Republican voted against along side 39 Democrats).
  • The thought that there is a Republican Governor in New Jersey gives me hope living in IL.
  • After visiting Detroit for the first time (maybe my last) I see what was once a great city.  It appears the Democrats and the Unions really know how to destroy things.
  • I end with this, which is stronger: Barry Obama or the cheap hangers from your local dry cleaners? The cheap hangers of course. They work all the time and they can hold their own .

Lies from the Democratic Left

To all who have missed me, I apologize.  I have a little one now and I have no idea of where the time goes.  I have noticed a lot of lies that are being told by the left on subjects ranging from health care to taxes.  I want to expose a few:

LIE - there are 47 million uninsured in the US.
Truth - This number that is thrown around like a hot potato breaks down like this
  • 12 million are illegal aliens (estimate)
  • 18 million have incomes over $50K a year and choose not to purchase. They most likely feel that they won't get sick.
  • 8 million are under the age of 18.  Their parents could sign them up for some other plans that already exist.
  • 9 million are poor and can already be covered by Medicaid and for whatever reason have not signed up.

LIE - Barry says he wants to work with Republicans
Truth - Barry has not met with Republicans leaders on health care since April

LIE - Republicans don't have any ideas or any health care plan options of their own
Truth - If Barry didn't notice (I did and I was watching in standard definition) the Republicans were waving bills at him during his "speech" or lie fest.  I saw them Barry, didn't you?  One example (my favorite) for starters would be to allow insurers to sell across state lines.  Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas could sell in California and BCBS of IL could sell in NY, etc..

LIE - This bill would be deficit neutral
Truth - Surely you jest.  The CBO states we are looking at adding about one trillion dollars to the deficit.

LIE - You will not lose your current health care
Truth - The Lewin Group estimates that about every 2 out of 3 workers will lose their coverage.  Why should employers pay for your insurance when they can just pay a fine and let you go the route of the public option.

LIE - The government would do a better job of managing health care.
Truth - (Really?)  Is it easier to manage 1/6th of our economy than the Post Office, Medicaid/Medicare, or Cash for Clunkers?  That is equivalent to saying that you were a horrible cashier, but you would make a great CFO of a major corporation. The truth is if the government struggles with those mentioned above, how in the world can we trust them to get this right?

LIE - This is an oldie but goody. Joe Biden stated that wealthier Americans should pay more taxes, because it is their patriotic duty.
Truth - Does Plugs not know that the top 5% already pay more than 50% of all federal income taxes?  Democrats don't believe what they preach.  Tim Geither is no fan of taxes and he oversees the IRS.  You will remember that he had to amend his taxes from 2001-2006.  Charlie Rangel (Chairman of the Weighs and Means Committe) writes tax laws, but does not pay them.  He forgot he had an account with $250K in it (I would never forget such a thing), did not report the income on his villa in the Caribbean, and last but not least he forgot to report income on the sale of a property that netted him as much as $1.3 million dollars.

These are just a few of the many lies from the left.

Shortcomings of Politicians

As many of you know by now, Mark Sanford had an affair.  Cheating on one's wife is not a good thing, politician or not.  What I have a problem with is how the left pretends this is a Republican issue.  Well as I pointed out to a liberal friend of mine, the left has a lot of shortcomings as well.  I compiled a list for him, take a look:

I am glad you mentioned Mark Sanford.  I think what he did was wrong.  Now whether or not he will resign is strictly up to the people of SC.  I think he should pull a page out of the dems book.  They never apologize for any wrong doing and their scandal are numerous.  Since I am sure you have no idea, let me point some out to you:
- arrest of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich
- Democratic Rep. William Jefferson of Louisiana is awaiting trial on charges of bribery, money laundering and misusing his congressional office (also lost his reelection bid)
- Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer of New York resigned after revelations that he was involved in a prostitution ring (high dollar escorts)
- Rep. Gary Studds (Democrat), who in 1973 plied a 17-year old congressional page with alcohol, had sex with him including penetration, and took him on an official trip to Europe
- Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank (Democrat), although a male prostitute he hired ran an escort service from his apartment in 1990.
- Bill Clinton (nothing else needs to be said)
- Gavin Newsom mayor of SF who had an affair with the wife of one of his best friends
- John Edwards fathered a child out of wedlock, cheated on his wife who has cancer.  (correct me if I am wrong, but you were upset when John McCain did it.  I was to, but I don't hear you saying anything about this guy)
- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa forced to confess that he was dating a TV reporter before his marriage broke up
- Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was criticized for using city funds to lease a car for use by his family and using his city issued credit card to charge thousands of dollars worth of spa massages, extravagant dining, and expensive wines. Kilpatrick would later pay back $9000 of the $210,000 credit card charges, less than 5% of the amount charged.
  • he also had an affair with his chief of staff Christine Beatty.
  • also perjury, misconduct in office and obstruction of justice.
  • spent 120 days in jail
- Charles Rangel (D-NY) accused of failing to report $75,000 income from the rental of his villa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (same guy who sits on the committee who writes tax law)

So you see, Democrats have shortcomings to.

Rest in Peace Tiller

After hearing that George R. Tiller had been shot I was shocked, but I was even more shocked to find out that he was an usher in his church.   While I don't agree with abortion (especially partial birth abortion) I do not support killing doctors who perform these heinous acts.

My son will be here in 2 weeks. I am excited and scared.  Looking at the sonogram when our son was just 9 weeks changed my view forever. I have been a conservative all of my life, but did not give much thought to the "life" issue. After watching Baby J moving around on that screen, I knew he was alive. It wasn't my "choice" to determine when Baby J was alive. (some out there believe the the child is not alive until it is born)  He moved and moved and moved some more. He was alive and well. It is not my job to judge those who perform abortions, but it is my job to pray for them.  Mr. Tiller, I never met you, but may you rest in peace.

RR Random Thoughts

First off I would like to give credit where credit is due.  I got the idea of random thoughts from one of my favorite people on Townhall: Thomas Sowell.  Now let us begin:

  • The investigation into the Bush administration regarding enhanced techniques against terrorists is coming back to bite Nancy Pelosi.  Eventually this will bite Barry and his administration.
  • After living in Chicago for almost 5 years, I now know for a fact that Mayor Daley is a crook.  Sorry it took so long, but I like to give people a chance.
  • I noticed that liberals think jokes are really funny when they talk about Republicans.  Take for instance Wanda Dikes talking about Rush Limbaugh.  If the same thing had been said about Randi Rhodes the libs would be in an up roar.  I am sick of the double standard.
  • The most recent Fed Auction brought something to mind that I told my wife a few months ago.  Eventually the Treasury Department is going to have to increase the interest to get people to buy our bonds.   When you are right you are right.
  • The planet is now cooling.  Instead of saying that, libs have changed their slogan to climate change.  It appears that Time magazine asked the question "Another Ice Age?" 35 years ago.  (can't use global cooling)
  • Bush's billions.  When we talked about the budget during the Bush administration we threw around the "b" word (billion) a lot.  Barry has been in office just over a 100 days and we are throwing around trillions (literally throwing).
  • Community Organizers make bad business people.  Just look at Barry offering Chrysler bond holders $.30 on the dollar, but offering the UAW 55% of the company.  Oh yeah UAW was one of his biggest supporters.
  • The UAW has encouraged me to buy foreign cars.
  • Words cannot express how offended I am that Barry did nothing more than sign a document for the National Day of Prayer.
  • Speaking of prayer, where are all of the black pastors who voted for Barry?  They were so happy to have a black man running for President, that they put aside their Christian values regarding issues such as homosexual marriage, abortion, and self responsibility.
  • I need to let James Carville know two things in regards to the Democrats ruling for the next 40 years.
                       1. Do not count your chickens before they hatch.
                       2. Republicans are like zombies, we always come back!

From George to George

As Barry's budget passed both houses, something hit me.  "From George to George!"  Barry's budget has a price tag of around $3.6 trillion dollars.  If you couple this with the "stimulus bill", that was over $700 billion, plus a bailout here and there we are staring at $10 trillion with interest (by some estimates).  That is a lot of debt for my unborn son to have to payoff.  This year alone our nation will have a deficit of over $2 trillion dollars.  (on a side note, when did the word "trillion" ever get tossed around so much)  I know that George Washington must be rolling over in his grave now.  George Bush on the other hand must be disappointed that he got this monstrosity of a ball rolling with these bailouts.  The really sad part is that it took Barry less than 100 days to spend more than any of his predessors.  From George to George.

To Create or Save That is the Question

Barry Obama and his gang of merry men (Reid, Pelosi, Durbin and Emanuel) have said that the stimulus plan would save or create jobs.  I actually thought long and hard about this.  Save or create, that is the question.  Let us define these two words.

  • Save- to rescue or deliver from danger or harm; to spend less money; to avoid unnecessary waste or expense
  • Create - to produce or bring about by a course of action or behavior; to make or bring into existence something new

A few weeks ago Barry was present in Ohio for the swearing in of 25 police officers.  Before the stimulus package was signed these officers were told that they would be laid off before they even joined the force.  After the package was signed the city had the necessary funds to hire them.  So Barry has saved 25 jobs thus far.  Not bad for an $800 billion dollar investment.  Let's not forget that the stimulus bill (I use the term loosely) has less than 10% that will actually stimulate anything.  Unless you believe the economy can be stimulated by $650 million in coupons for set top boxes, $150 million for the Smithsonian and $1 billion for Amtrak who has not turned a profit in 40 years. So, Barry saved 25 jobs, but will someone from this administration tell me how they are going to create jobs.

I believe this quote found in the AP sums it up best.

"You created a situation where you cannot be wrong, "the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Montana Democrat Max Baucus, told Geithner last week.

"If the economy loses 2 million jobs over the next few years, you can say yes, but it would've lost 5.5 million jobs.  If we create a million jobs, you can say, well, it would have lost 2.5 million jobs, "Baucus said.  "You've given yourself complete leverage where you cannot be wrong, because you can take any scenario and make yourself look correct."

Well if Baucus only knew that Barry's administration intends on making themselves look correct on everything they do, no matter how wrong they might be.

Barry Obama the Liar

Where do I start.  For 8 years I have heard that George Bush is a liar.  I have heard no one in the MSM mention that Barry Obama is a liar.  Well I will point out a few of  the lies of  Barack Hussein Obama.
  1. I do not believe in bigger goverment- he has expanded the role of goverment in the first 45 days of his presidency
  2. All bills will be posted online for 48 hours- stimulus bill was not even posted 12 hours before being voted on
  3. New age of bipartisanship- paying off 3 Republican Senators is not bipartisanship
  4. No pork or pet projects in this (stimulus)bill- green golf carts, ACORN, tattoo removal violence program, etc.
  5. (My favorite) We are going to cut this deficit in half - this is a lie granted you just spent $1 trillion dollars in the first two months and congress is ready to push another $480billion dollar budget down our throats.
Mr. President, no one else may say it, but you sir are a liar!

Black Coffee

Black coffee helps millions of Americans and people of other nations wake up in the morning, stay alert or relax.  My stock broker of many years would tell me "Rodd, I like my coffee like I like my women, black and strong!"  (his words not mine)  Well I am not sure if it will help in this situation or not, but America needs to wake up.  Tonight our 44th President Barry Obama spoke to the nation.  As everyone knows (unless you have been under a rock or you watch the MSM for your news) Barry is trying to push through an $800 billion dollar stimulus plan to jump start the economy.  If you have been paying attention to this bill you know that Republicans are against it (so am I) and most of the Democrats are for it.  I must add that there are three Republicans for this bill in the Senate (Arelen Specter PA, Susan Collins ME, Olympia Snowe ME).  In this recession America needs their "black coffee".  This time the coffee is needed to wake up most of America (those who are not cast under Obama's spell) and to those of us who are paying attention to stay alert!  Obama is trying to spend over a trillion dollars ($800 billion plus on this stimulus legislation and $350 billion in left over TARP money) in his first 30 days in office.

Just to recap a few of the items in the bill that are supposed to save or create 3-4 million jobs.
  • Weatherization for houses $6.2 billion dollars
  • $88.6 million for new construction for Milwaukee Public Schools (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel "schools have shrinking enrollment".
  • $1 billion for Amtrack (have not turned a profit in 40 years)
  • $650 million for digital tv conversion boxes (for those who love to procrastinate)
  • $20 billion in food stamps (place your on snide remark)
I could go on, but I am not sure how these pork projects are going to create or save 3-4 million jobs.  Black coffee, drink it because we are going to have too keep an eye on this one.
